Victoria is known as the “Crossroads of South Texas” due to its proximity to four of the state's largest cities. It is less than a two-hour drive from Houston, Corpus Christi, Austin and San Antonio. Victoria boasts a huge fishing and hunting community. Bootfest, Poco Bueno and Shiner Fest are a few of Victoria's most popular annual events. The area is home to the University of Houston at Victoria and Victoria College. There are major industrial and oilfield employers in the region, including Halliburton, Formosa Plastic, Dow Chemical and Caterpillar.
