Solar Power

Renewable Energy
Reducing Lamar’s carbon footprint through the use of renewable energy is at the forefront of our energy-related investments.  Lamar has now installed over 7,000 solar panels onto some 2,000 billboard structures in Louisiana and Florida, with a total installed system capacity of 1.7 Megawatts.

In aggregate, these systems annually return over 2 million kilowatt hours (kWh) back to the grid, and represent the largest distributed solar network anywhere in the world.  The benefit of a distributed network is there are virtually no transmission losses, as the power is used essentially adjacent to where it is produced.
