Situated in the heart of the Florida Panhandle, sits the town of Tallahassee. When Florida became a territory of the United States a good location needed to be chosen for the capital. After seeing the beauty of the area that is now Tallahassee the search party ended their search. What began as just a log cabin serving as the state capital, has grown to become a major city.

Tallahassee is a great place for doing business. With two major malls (the Tallahassee Mall and Governors Square Mall) and numerous other stores and specialty shops Tallahassee has everything. Tallahassee is home to many of our state politicians and over 50,000 college students. Tallahassee also attracts many people because of its mild Gulf Coast climate.

Today Tallahassee has a population over 137,000. Being the state capital Tallahassee is home to all of the government offices for Florida. Tallahassee is also home to three institutions of higher learning and two professional sports teams; the Tallahassee Tiger Sharks of the East Coast Hockey and the Tallahassee Thunder of the Arena Football League. The Thunder will begin play in April of 2000. There are also many other things to do in Tallahassee. For more information on the city of Tallahassee, please visit our about Tallahassee page.
