The Arts
The performing arts are alive and well in Lincoln. With over 30 theatres and art galleries, Lincoln is one of the Midwest's artistic bright spots. The crown jewel of these venues is the Lied Center for Performing Arts. This state-of-the-art facility plays host to many nationally renowned performers.



The University of Nebraska
  • ENROLLMENT - There are more than 20,000 students enrolled in classes at NU representing all of Nebraska's 93 counties. NU awards bachelor's degrees in 27 disciplines and is nationally recognized for many of it's programs. The University of Nebraska is widely recognized as one of the best educational values in the country.
  • SPENDING - The household expenditures of faculty and staff at NU contribute more than $130 million directly into the state's economy, generating jobs services and other transactions that result in a total impact of about $400 million. The expenditures of NU students contribute another $400 million in activity throughout the economy. When you add in the millions of dollars spent each year by people who attend NU-related activities, the University's overall effect on Lincoln's economy is immense.
  • ATHLETICS - The Nebraska football team has an ongoing NCAA record of 36 consecutive winning seasons, with 29 straight seasons in which the team won nine or more games. Memorial Stadium holds the ongoing NCAA record for consecutive sellouts, dating back to 1962. NU has had more GTE Academic All-Americans than any other school in the country and has won 17 national championships in various division one sports.
