A Huntsville man who robbed two Marshall County banks in 2012 was arrested Thursday, according to a release by the FBI.
Cedrick Lamond Hicks, 33, was arrested without incident during a traffic stop in Decatur. In addition to the robberies in Albertville and Guntersville, he is a suspect in six other bank robberies, five in Alabama and one in Tennessee.
Hicks became known as the “ball cap bandit” because he wore a baseball cap during the robberies. In August 2012, the FBI, in cooperation with Lamar Outdoor Advertising, put up electronic billboards in Alabama and Tennessee in an effort to identify Hicks.
United States Marshal’s Service Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force and the Decatur Police Department also aided in the capture of Hicks.
