BrandZ produces rankings of the world’s most valuable brands by examining financial metrics such as total revenue and profit, along with surveys of 3.1 million consumers in 51 countries for their views about brands.

Kantar Millward Brown has been producing the report since 2006, and there's been a significant rise in the in the position of technology companies. The 37 tech companies in the top 100 BrandZ value rankings currently represent over half the value of the total group — 54 percent — up from 37 percent in 2006. 

Below is the list of the top 10, nine of which do business in the US. Of those nine, all invest in OOH (based on January – November 2017 data), and six invest more than the medium's 4.2 percent average share – Google, Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, Facebook and McDonald’s.

The world’s leading technology brands are big believers in OOH because it produces results for them. Below are the five technology brands, operating in the US, in the top ten and their share of media budget invested in OOH.
