Baton Rouge, LA – January 18, 2018 – Drivers on the busy I-30 in Little Rock may have noticed an actual wooden garage door mounted on one of the billboards overlooking the highway.
Lamar Advertising Company (Nasdaq: LAMR), one of the largest out-of-home (OOH) media companies in the world, created the campaign for
Coney’s Garage Doors, a local manufacturer of high-end garage doors for residential and commercial buildings.
Conceived and executed by the Lamar Little Rock team, the billboard also features illuminated sconces alongside the garage door to create an eye-catching, three-dimensional effect. The billboard debuted in August 2017 and has been successfully generating attention and new customer leads for Coney’s.
"Coney’s Garage Doors approached Lamar with the challenge of using our creative skills and local assets to attract attention and more deeply penetrate the local Little Rock market in an innovative way,” said Jack Lankford, an account executive at Lamar Advertising of Little Rock. “With working sconces and a real garage door perched on a billboard, we worked in collaboration with our local partners to give consumers the impression of an authentic carport on a billboard that continues to grab attention.”
Situated on the Interstate 30 bridge, one of the highest-trafficked arteries connecting Little Rock and North Little Rock, Lamar utilized one of Coney’s weather-treated garage doors to demonstrate the product’s durability and create a natural 3D effect to capture the attention of passing drivers. The surrounding design mimics the company’s digital look and feel. The campaign has been submitted for consideration for an OBIE Award, recognizing the best in creative advertising.
